Joyce Stilson - President

Ms. Stilson is the Director of Program & Development for Musicians United for Superior Education (MUSE) and also serves as Associate Director of Alleyway Theatre. She received both her BA and Masters from the State University of New York at Buffalo. Ms. Stilson’s primary discipline is Theatre; she has been a teaching artist since 1985, giving workshops in a variety of formats across the state, heading after school programs, and serving on several review panels for both local and state grants. She has been with the organization since its beginning in 1997 and was a Founding member when CAPC incorporated. 



Kinzer Pointer - Vice President

The Reverend Kinzer M. Pointer has been the Coordinator of Parent and Community Services at Enterprise Charter School since the fall of 2004. He has more than 20 years in the field with a strong commitment to reforming public education. He attended Canisius College where he majored in History Education and Political Science. He has served on or is serving on the following community boards: Buffalo Board of Education, Read to Succeed Buffalo(formerly Good Schools for All), Buffalo Inner City Youth Fan Club for Golfing, Inc., Project Flight, Inc. and Upstate New York Transplant Services. He is also the Pastor of Agape Fellowship Baptist Church of Buffalo. The Reverend joined CAPC's Board in 2008.

Michael de Freitas - Treasurer

Mr. de Freitas is a lawyer with William C. Moran & Associates, P.C. in Buffalo, New York. A graduate of Holy Cross College (B.A., English) and Cornell Law School, he primarily represents nonprofit organizations, including arts, cultural, and educational organizations, regarding nonprofit corporate, tax exemption, and general legal matters. He serves on boards in a variety of nonprofit fields and represented CAPC when it incorporated and obtained tax exemption in 2006.  He joined the CAPC Board of Directors in 2008.

Lauren Tent - Secretary

Ms. Tent has been the Education Director of CEPA Gallery since 1999.  She designs interdisciplinary photography programs in many schools and oversees the after school and summer programs at CEPA, partnering with many community groups throughout the city and Erie County. She also manages the workshop program that offers photography, graphic design and traditional darkroom classes.  Ms. Tent has been a part of CEPA since she was an intern, first joining CEPA in 1985 while working towards her Bachelor of Arts degree in Photography at the State University of New York at Buffalo. She obtained a Master of Arts degree in Humanities, concentrating on Art History and English Education, at UB in 2005 and is also a recent graduate of Leadership Buffalo 2009. She has taught photography classes at Villa Maria College, Daemen College and currently teaches in the Visual Studies department at the University at Buffalo. Ms. Tent joined CAPC in 1999.

Linda Drajem

Ms. Drajem is a retired educator with over 35 years of experience. She taught English in the Buffalo Public Schools for many years, and then at Buffalo State College. She holds a Ph.D. and Masters from SUNY Buffalo and an undergraduate degree from D’Youville College. She is a writer who has published in the Buffalo News and some local anthologies. In addition, she and two other poets recently published a volume of poetry, InnerSessions. Currently she is a member of the Milkweed Collective that provides programs to children and adults combining art with creative writing. The Milkweed Collective conducts programs in schools as well as with Boys and Girls Clubs, WNY Writing Project at Canisius College and the Analytical Psychology Society. Ms. Drajem is also a Teaching Artist member of Just Buffalo’s Writers Corps. She joined the CAPC Board of Directors in 2008. 




Ginny O'Brien

Ms. O'Brien is an artist, educator, lecturer and author. She exhibits her art regularly and has extensive experience teaching studio and lecture courses in design and fiber art. Ms. O'Brien conducts workshops for teachers, artists and healthcare professionals that integrate the arts and creativity for the promotion of health and wellness. Her past work includes developing and teaching an innovative expressive visual arts program designed for adolescents and adult in-patients receiving care at Erie County Medical Center. Ms. O'Brien's publications are found in several art, education and health-related journals. She received a BS in Nursing from Wichita State University, BFA and MA degrees from Buffalo State College and a MFA in Studio Art, Fibers, from Syracuse University. She is the Curator of Education for the University at Buffalo Art Galleries. In addition to CAPC, she also serves on the board of Aspire of WNY, Inc. Ms. O’Brien has been an active participant since 2004 and joined the board in 2006 when CAPC incorporated. 



Carlos Jones

Mr. Jones is Assistant Professor and SUNY Diversity Faculty Fellow at Buffalo State College. He received his Masters of Fine Arts degree from the University of California - Irvine. Mr. Jones' work is in the areas of theater and dance with his focuses being in musical theater, cultural fusion concert dance, and the globalization of American popular movement. Jones has been a teaching artist in Buffalo since 2006 and across the country since 1990. He joined the CAPC Board of Directors in 2008. 



Sandy Ludwig

Mrs. Ludwig is a visual artist, who taught in the Buffalo school system for over 30 years. She retired from the Buffalo Academy for Visual and Performing Arts where she taught studio in art, photography, art history and drawing and painting. While teaching there, she helped develop and implement the Empire State Partnership grant with the Albright-Knox Art Gallery and now acts as the education coordinator for the partnership between the Arts Academy and Hallwalls Contemporary Art Center. She also helped implement the School and Business Alliance grant while teaching at Kensington High School. She has a degree in Commercial Art from the American Academy of Art in Chicago and a BFA in Communications and Design/ Art Education from the University at Buffalo. Mrs. Ludwig joined the CAPC Board of Directors in 2006. 



Barbara Saleh White

Mrs. White is a music educator in the Sweet Home Central School District. She has served the education community in WNY for the past 35 years. She received both her BA in Music and Voice and MM in Music Education from the State University of New York at Buffalo.  Barbara has also performed as soloist and Church Music Director in various WNY churches.  She has received grants for working with area students in arts education, most recently from the "Kids in Need Foundation" and served on the Teacher Advisory Board for Silver Burdett Ginn Textbook Division.  Mrs. White joined the CAPC Board of Directors in 2008.  


Kathy Shiroki

Ms. Shiroki is the Curator of Museum Learning and Community Engagement at the Burchfield Penney Art Center holding a joint position with Buffalo State College teaching Art Education and Museum Studies Graduate courses and coordinates the Czurles-Nelson gallery on campus. She received her MFA from the University of California, San Diego, her BFA from Tyler School of Art, and her Associate degree from the School of American Craftsmen at Rochester Institute of Technology. Kathy has been employed in education departments in museums for over 17 years including the Albright-Knox Art Gallery and the Salt Lake City Art Museum. Her creative ventures include designing interactive spaces in the galleries at the A-KAG and administrating hands-on environments designed by WNY artists at the Burchfield Penney. Ms. Shiroki has been an active participant since 1999 and joined the board in 2006 when CAPC incorporated.
